Just like dear old Dad, some things never go out of style. The easiest last-minute gift to get a dad is a bottle, be it a bottle of whisky, wine or even beer (a fancy-schmancy craft beer, to be sure).
But what if we told you you can save some hard-earned cash by going DIY? It’s a sweet way of expressing your love, plus you get to learn a few tricks along the way.
Here are some drink ideas-alcoholic and non-alcoholic- that your Dad may appreciate this Father’s Day.
For the wine loving Dad: Mulled Wine for the cold season
For the beer loving Dad: Black velvet
This cocktail is made using stout, usually Guinness, and white sparkling wine, usually Champagne, which are carefully poured into a tall Champagne flute. Using an equal measure of both, the stout is carefully poured, over the back of a spoon, on top of the Champagne. Pouring the drink this way means that the two liquids remain in separate layers.
For the cocktail loving Dad : Tom Collins
- 1 ½ oz gin
- 1 oz simple syrup
- ½ oz fresh lemon juice
- Club soda
Fill a collins glass 3/4 with ice. Build in the glass, gin, simple syrup, lemon juice. Stir to combine. Fill with soda.
Garnish with a cherry and a lemon slice.
For the fitness Dad: Orange pineapple smoothie
For the coffee-loving Dad: Coffee with a twist
Forget the cream and sugar: Sometimes the best way to improve a cup of coffee is to get boozy on it.
