Now… just wait…hold up…
This was me when i first heard that Seven Grill & Lounge at Village Market was planning to introduce a new Seven’s brunch menu.
Of course this was fantastic news, almost like when Obama was elected president of the United States…well…not exactly, but you get it!
The reason behind my excitement was obviously because of the food. Seven has been known to dish out some of the yummiest specialities; from slow-cooked octopus to tender aged steaks and cheese filled lobster thermidor.
Brunch for them is surely going to be a delicious walk in the park. (smiles)
Historians aren’t really sure how and when the practice of brunch first began; however, most can agree that the first documented use of the word “brunch” was in 1895. In that year, British writer Guy Beringer submitted as essay to Hunters Weekly called “Brunch: A Plea.”
“Brunch is cheerful, sociable and inciting,” Beringer says. “It is talk-compelling. It puts you in a good temper, it makes you satisfied with yourself and your fellow beings, it sweeps away the worries and the cobwebs of the week.” (…quite an intense description isn’t it?)
Brunch is really an intense meal.
We also know that at some point in history, Sunday brunch was popularized due to churchgoers and possibly even Saturday night carousers.
So without deviating further from the intricacies of brunch, let’s get back to Seven’s brunch menu which will be happening this and every Sunday (only at the Village Market branch)
It comes as a glee that Chef Kiran Jethwa (who happens to own the Seven ‘chain’ of restaurants) is the brains behind the Seven’s brunch menu. Obviously…But knowing that your meal has been personally and carefully prepared by the proprietor of the restaurant is an honour.
It feels special…
And if you’ve had the privilege of dining at Seven, you’ll know that Chef Jethwa never disappoints, no he doesn’t.
When i went through the sample menu, it was all i could do to stop my eyes from welling up with tears of foodie joy. Sweet delights, egg Benedict, yes, even a special Gujarati menu are a few of the teasers.
The Seven brunch menu is accompanied by signature cocktails and live music in a relaxing ambiance.
I can’t bring myself to describe the scrumptious menu so i’ll just attach the sample jpg. for your perusal.
