Eat Out Kenya as well as Yummy is all about promoting the dining culture in Nairobi- and that’s exactly why we couldn’t hide our excitement when we heard that there was a new establishment opening its doors at the Village Market. Taking several months to complete, the newly opened and second branch of the Seven Seafood and Grill better known as ”Seven Grill and Lounge” is bound to attract even the pickiest of clientele, because quite frankly, it’s quite something.
If you’ve been to the Seven restaurant at ABC place you’ll get the familiar feel at the Seven Grill and Lounge. Lovely upholstered and plush seats, open kitchen, a side bar for the adventurous at heart ,attentive service and the all dramatic chandelier hanging from the top of a carefully designed ceiling. In short, the ambiance is all that plus more. There is more space, and more exciting stuff to keep your eyes roving from one end of the room to the other.
Now top on everyone’s mind is what makes the place unique and different from its sister branch. For one, the name clearly distinguishes what they will be specifically spoiling you with- the best of Kenyan Grills this side of East Africa.Seven is widely known for serving delicious fresh-out-of-the-sea seafood treats and even ranked a whooping number 6 on Trip advisor-that’s a big deal. So branching out and specialising in grills might as well create a storm and raise the bar in this here industry.
And judging from the opening night, prepare to be in for a yummy treat. The meat, uniquely sourced from a well known supplier was so tender and flavourful it could tempt a vegetarian to change camps (well almost). From lamb to beef all the way to calamari, Seven Grill has your best culinary interests at heart. There is also a ready selection for the vegetarians so do take heart.
And speaking of the adventurous at heart, the fully stocked bar along with the legendary fish bowl cocktails known to wow patrons at the ABC branch will hopefully still be on offer.
In conclusion, Seven Grill and Lounge is your classic ”nyamachoma joint” only with some added class and all levels of cool. You can relax, indulge in some authentic quality grills as you down your favorite drink with family or friends. So watch out for this new toddler, it’s definitely out to take the market by storm- Kiran Jethwa, head chef as well as owner, already seems to know this. His culinary travels, which have taken him around the world are a sure way of knowing what the Seven generation is all about. That, plus his cooking show set to even air in as far as London, are sure indicators that the Kenyan hospitality industry is about to be taken to a whole new level.
