Ever wondered how the worlds longest pizza looks like? Pretty darn tasty! The world record breaking pizza was unveiled at the 2015 Milan Expo and measured a whopping 1.5 kilometres (1,595.4 metres to be exact) of cheesy goodness. The previous record was held by Spain at 1141.5 metres. The 5 ton pizza was put together by over 60 Italian chefs who worked throughout the night to bring it to life. It might not have been the largest one around, but it certainly was the longest!
The pizza used up 1,500KG of tomatoes, over one and a half tonnes of mozzarella cheese and a river of extra virgin olive oil. The pizza was stretched out over 800 tables as the eager crowed waited to get a slice. It took three minutes to cook each metre of the pizza in five specially adapted ovens in celebration of the 126th anniversary of the margherita. Since Italy is considered the home of pizza, its only right that they won by great lengths. I wonder if there’s any left.
